Retiree Health Insurance Task Force Bills

S.6457-A(Farley), A.9393-A(Abbate)

              As a retired public employee who is living on a fixed income, I am concerned—as I know you are—about the continued availability of affordable health insurance benefits to offset the impact of the high cost of pharmaceuticals and health care.

              As employees, we devoted much of our working life to public service and earned the benefits we rely on in retirement.  We cannot allow our benefits to be reduced or eliminated at this point in our lives.

              I ask that you approve S.6457-A/A.9393-A as soon as it reaches your desk.  Please do not be swayed by those who would claim that this bill is a ‘Trojan Horse’ for a raid on the public treasury.  It is merely a mechanism to arrive at a reasonable and permanent solution to a very serious concern for public employee retirees.
